Deck thickness

I hear alot about different company's having the thickest deck. How many of you have actually warped or bent a deck? How thick is thick enough 10 ga? 7 Ga? I think my Exmark has 7 ga sides and a reinforced 10 ga top. I would hate to hit something hard enought to damage it. Is there a such thing a overkill on the thickness of decks?

I've bent a deck. Its not a common problem for me, but it does happen.

It must take one hell of a hit to bend or dent a 7ga deck. Im sure it happens but 99% of the time, a 7ga will hold up just as well as a 10ga. 7 is preferable but overkill IMO.

I bet that you could open a new company that makes mowers with 5ga decks and they would be a big sell...
