To me that is way too many hours and just really grates on me.

What the heck, oil/filters don't cost THAT much.
I change at 50ish. Some times its 49, some times its 52.
Change at the 50s on the hour meter, makes it easier to remember.
3000, 3050, 3100, 3150 etc
To me 100 hours is way too often. I'm closer to 200 hours per oil change. Once I get to 150 hours then I start thinking about changing the oil.

I got a unit that uses about 2 qts of oil in 200 hrs so no change needed? Fortunately this is one of the big vanguards and does have oil sensor

Same here. I have one mower that would easily use 2 qts in 200 hours and it only holds 2 qts.

WOW!!!

I'm guessing you're not one that has 9000 hours on their machines either.

I believe all but Generac list their motor life expectancy of 2000 hours. Generac advertises 3000 hour on their commercial motors.

I am coming up on 4000 hours on a 12 year old Kohler. Nothing to major done as for repairs. Nothing that keep me from mowing over a day of down time.

No. I'm the one that sent his used oil to be analyzed and found out that he was throwing away perfectly good oil.

you guys are nuts for changing oil so often......... We have a snapper that had over 3000 hrs on it when the meter stopped 2 years ago and that thing gets an oil change midway through the year (prolly around 400 hrs)..... not a problem.

My scags are about the same, prolly 400-450hrs on oil. With that being said, we do check the levels daily and if they use a lil we add a lil.........

One of my scags with this treatment has over 2000 hrs and is now a backup mower but not because of motor issues. That Koehler just sings right along but I started having other little issues like hydro here, wheel motor there.............

I know that everyone wants to take care of there machines but I bet if you had your oil TESTED at 100 hours its viscosity would be very close to in new condition.........

With the cost of oil and filters, I just do what the manual says. All my mechanic guys say that if you follow the manual to a 'T', your stuff will last longer than you probably want it to.

It's worked for our equipment. I'm still running an IH 1206 on the farm, and it's been here since new. I have no idea how many hours are on it but it gets used daily to pull a feed wagon in temps from -25 to 100+.
Runs fine. A cab would be nice but as long as it does its job, I can't justify kicking it to the curb.

I have a Kubota 1800 mower with 4500 hours on it. It's fine but a multi-purpose 4 wheel steering garden tractor is not a zero turn mower.

I need to sell it and get it out of my storage shed...But I have a weird attachment to the little guy.

If you had a Amsoil bypass filter you could go almost indefinitely I suppose. The bypass filter will keep the oil squeaky clean and you're replenishing the additives package every 100 hours. What else is there?
