Winter time lawn plugging

Many of you know I plugged my lawn last summer. It's filled in really nice but I have a few thin spots.

I will continue taking from the good spots to fill it in. We are fixing to start round 1 apps and the soil temp is in the upper 40s and green up should start mid march

Think it is a waste to start some plugging now? Wait til green up? I know it want grow any but figured with it cold and wet I might get some root establishment.

Is plugging the same idea as sodding??? I would probably NOT sod until the grasses were actively growing... I wonder what would happen to dormant sod???

Early spring plugging may activate a ton of weed seeds.

Lots of new construction is sodded with Bermuda in the cold. I know of 3 places in my town that were done recently.

I will be doing it upon green up but figured if I could start early that the roots might grow and I wouldn't have to water as often

Interestting... Now I'm gonna have to try it with cool-season turf...

Plug away! You wont have any issues and the roots will take hold before greenup! If you get weeds in the voids spray'em!!
