The only time I ever saw my Dad cry was when we had to put down our family dog last year. He was 17, and I got him on my 10th birthday.

Each time we lose one, we swear we'll never have another. After a period of mourning, we start looking at the pound or the paper for another one.

I had to put down my "life partner" Merlin 10 days ago. He would have been 15 next month. Had him cremated and now he's back home and pain free. Sucks to be selfish but I really miss him!
RIP Merlin.

I'm from the lawn and snow forums but saw the thread and had to read it...have had to put down a few of my own...anyway, while reading this it makes me wonder how a POS like Mike Vick could drown and electrocute such a loyal animal who just loves to see his or her owner every single day...
