Not an option on southern grass. They will creep 6" over hardscape in two weeks time.

Every week when the grass is growing then every other during the summer months. I like my lawns to have a sharp edge on them, gives them a nice clean look and that alone has got me new customers. It takes what? Two minutes to edge a house? A maintained edge is much easier to blow out and does not hold dead clippings. I do charge extra on corner houses because of the extra edging.
