yes getting contracts is the hardest part.

but I will say that we have sub opportunities in 3 states (not Oklahoma yet but stay tuned)

We work for retail stores/ dollar general/ olive garden+darden restaraunts/hampton inn/ medexpress/

at the large chain levels its alot less about "knowing what you are doing" than who you know.

gas stations i do not do- no Budget! if they cant match our minimum numbers i dont even work on them.

the truth is once u get in with a company, unless you mess up badly, they wont bid it.

we have a client that we have done 4 stores for. we do not have to 'bid' it. we just give them a number and get the job.

Right I understand that... this is how the company I'm working with does now.... that being said it was sheer luck I got in with them... through family connection...Im always looking to expand so how do u guys find new work....other than the companies u work with on everyday level...

the real problem for us isnt getting contracts its
1 getting good enough crews to execute far away contracts
2 retaining crew leaders. ive lost 2 to duis already. if you cant drive you are fired.

1 skid steer or tractor with fel?
2 mini ex to plant trees ?
3 how many crew?

1. Skid-yes
2.Mini- no we rent generally or depending on size of trees dig by hand
3.we generally run a crew of 3 but depending on work load that number goes up to 5.. laborers are easy to find.. skill is the hard part

I'm starting to phone each small municipality within reasonable driving distance. Find out who the buyer is. Invite them out to the tree farm.

We have a provincial tendering process for big jobs (I think $100,000 is the base) below that municipalities can tender locally, and for stuff below some minimum they can just buy it. I'm aiming for that bottom category -- the $1-5 K job. (I'm a one person operation.) But to do that, you ahve to know the guy on the ground.
