I tried the smoke bombs years ago. Toxic, but how well would it penetrate 20 or 30 feet away? No air circulation in mole tunnels, and probably not deep enough to prevent fresh air from infiltrating the tunnels.
Years ago,
I also tried Phostoxin gas pellets, but my manager at the time insisted that I get rid of them. He heard about deaths cause by careless use. Dangerous--too similar to nerve gas used in war. Activated by moisture...or humid air.

I also tried exhaust gas from my old Chevy. Heat sometimes killed the grass--and you never really knew if it killed any moles or not. I also tried exhaust gas from a lawnmower. Unscrewed the muffler and attached a short piece of 3/4 inch pipe. I then clamped on a piece of hose; shoved in a tunnel. Fine--good pressure--but it soon melted the hose.
