I agree with Michhippy 100%. My super rides pretty darn good with the suspension seat, flex forks, and pneumatic front tires even at high speeds. Everything has it's limitations. I have a new Gravely 460 and it rides better yet, but I'm still impressed with my old Super.

So the Gravely rides that good? that is what I was told, and that the new Gravely was like 1500 cheaper than a Hyper and rode better. You can no longer get a flex seat for the Super does that apply to a X one as well?
Pupster say's his modded Super 06 model rides much better than a stock Hyper so that tells me the new Gravely truly is a great buy, also I here the Cheetah rides better as well but looks overly complex with the shock on the seat platform? but for the type of cutting I do as well as the fact I am going to be targeting these types of jobs which require a real strong drive for steep grades the new Super may be better for me. The Xone probably rides like the old Super and Hyper? which would be fine for me, I love my old Super but I am sure there are better mowers today. |

Still not perfect though. The armrests are cushy, to the point that when you use them to support yourself getting in and out of the seat they collapse enough you feel the frame outline. When they made the 400 series they chose to place the engine a little farther back behind the rear wheels than the Super which is good for nose down traction. The negative I'm finding is since it's more rear heavy the front end bounce is more exaggerated over bumps due to being lighter. Also the 400 frame is at least as stiff or stiffer than the Hustler's which means a rougher ride from the basic unit. I spent the extra $s for the pneumatic front wheel assemblies and am still playing with psi. 6 psi seems to help with nose down and ride but then I get some lean or dip on my cut here and there. If flying on really rough ground the seat platform, unless aired up tight and isolators adjusted stiff, will start to almost exaggerate the bumps. This effects the operator, which effects the steering, which snowballs the situation, but in these cases I'm usually just going far too fast for the situation....because I can ![]() On another note, I checked the mph on my Super with my portable gps and found It would barley get 13 mph. This is with tires aired down to around 8 psi and rpms at about 3700 and with caster flapping (I understand this is one thing that the new Super fixed). My 460 shows about 12.7 mph with rear tires at 10 psi and rpms about 1750 with no caster flap. I have never adjusted the steering stops on either to possibly get more speed out of them. Another thing I'm curious about is the possibility of modifying or adjusting the ZT5400s to get more speed if desired since it is the same pumps used on the two speed units (Cheetah and PZZT Husky). It's plenty fast though and I'm not sure the deck could handle any more speed anyway. My biggest worry about the 400 prior to purchase was clipping dispersal and I'm happy to say it blows my Super out of the water in this respect. I'm saving tons of time not having to blow my clippings around after cutting. |

I am glad the machine worked out,if I get a new mower it will be either a Cheetah,Gravely or Super. Most shops were telling me the new Super was overall the best unit because of the drive and electrical system.

Congrats. I would of suggested the Superduty 60", but you did way better!
