Need Help
Heres the scoop the company I work for does alot of high hoa work and after being here a year our high end fescue looks like poop ever since i was hired as the spray tech. I know its been hot but these lawns are all irrigated and should at least look decent. Growing up I was taught to do the best that I can with what I have and to be proud of my work. Truth be told im ashamed to admit that we take care of these yrds. I have two bosses who run our maintenance and do not understand PRE EMERGENTS or fert. So for the past month I have been running numbers and setting up new programs to show to the owner but am a little skittish about telling my bosses that there programs dont work. I believe that for around the same price this new program can produce a better turf and happier customers. Any advice on how to go about this

not talking about dying out but crabgrass filled lawns that could have been prevented by one more pre m app instead of me getting told that the lowest rate would last 4 months. When I could have easily added in barricade in the spray mix instead of one month later coming back to weed infested turf and having to spray drive instead of trimmec

In also seeing a lot of crabgrass. It's usually a problem in August sine the pre is wearing off. The fact that is was 100 and dry for a few weeks and now we got some good rain(at least in eastern nc) everything is blowing up.
You seem to know what you are doing. If you know the prices you might compare them. Owners always like cheaper programs. If I can help let me know. Posted via Mobile Device |

I know it is unpopular to say, but it has been my experience that pre-m doesn't last long under high water situations... when the heat comes on and the irrigations overcompensate the pre-m is diluted to the point of ineffectiveness or leached away or puddled or something...
This is most noticeable in summertime sod that will fry if not irrigated enough to beat the heat...

Yep, yep, and yep. I'm not sure it's cheaper than Drive, and is probably too late now, but I like to use Dimension for the June-July pre-em as it has some post-emergent effect on crabgrass before the 5th instar level. The spring pre-em just won't keep out the crabgrass in August here.
