exmark died while mowing
I have a 2005 exmark 72 inch with 28hp kohler. I was cutting grass and it acted as if i turned key off and died out. Now I have no power at all not even when I turn key to on spot. I seen two fuses a 30amp and 10amp both are okay. No power at ignition switch. seat safty switch bypassed. parking brake switch ok. Im lost so any pointers would be helpfull. Thanks

Sounds like an ignition problem...does it have spark?

Trace the ignition line, it has a inline fuse... If that is ok, its probably the presence switch is out on the handles. My Bad Boy has a magnet and the magnet fell out and it did the same thing. Put a new magnet in And life is good.

Loosen the two bolts on the rear of the hydro pumps.

I had that happen before and it was the pto switch. Not saying that is your problem, I forget how to test it.

just couple things..no power to switch might be starter selonoid if not switch. If by chance your tester had a bad contact for ground and you accually do have power at 'on'..then could be several things (siezed motor-turn by hand to see, bad starter, weak ground somewhere) just a couple non-professional thoughts

Could be gremlins...also someone may have let the smoke out of some of the electrical wiring.

The same thing happened to me on 27hp exmark 50". It was the voltage regulator, but I changed the stator also. Then it ran fine.
