I just don't get it i guess... I have all Echo handhelds ( a bunch) and just use the 2 cycle Echo synthetic and never have any problems.. I run these things alot and never foul plugs have clogged screens or exhaust ports... I guess i'm just one of the lucky one's... Some of the other post i've seen say they had those things happen to there equipment only to find out a helper was mixing the oil/gax mixture wrong.

I have been using synthetics since the early 80's, had bought a Tanaka and that dealer sold me on trying Tanaka's "Perfect Mix". Over the years I always stuck with some form of synthetic and had pretty good results. I didn't realize there would be a big difference between various synthetics, but have seen many have great comments on Amsoil's Sabre.
I just ordered some and will be using it in the coming weeks, and if it burns as clean as many have stated, leaving no carbon deposits, that will perfect. I was planning on using an 80:1 mix as even Amsoil suggest this on their website for commercial even though the bottle has 100:1 on the bottle. I will use it on my trimmers, 1 old chain saw that gets a couple of uses per year, and a 2 stroke Lawnboy. I also have a Stihl 420 cutquik saw which I don't use daily, but when I have the occasional retaining wall or especially a paver job, it woks pretty hard. Do you all figure this turns like a chainsaw and should go 50:1 or 80:1 would be fine? |

I don't think you're gonna hurt irt at 80:1. If you have the owners manual for it, look to see what RPM's the engine runs at. Stihl and a few other companies have engines of the same CC size that run at different R's depending on what the application is. The old 420 BP blower is 57 CC the same as some of their chainsaws either are, or have been, but it doesn't turn at near the R's the chainsaws do/did.

I'm a believer in Sabre @ 80:1 for 10 years now. Same mix in chainsaws, edgers, string trimmers, blowers etc.

100:1 in my trimmers with no problems for a few seasons now. In the winter I'll go to 80:1 in my Chainsaws for a little extra insurance. Chainsaw engines are under more strain cutting wood than trimmers cutting grass. Amsoil is a good cost effective solution and you don't go home smelling like 2 stroke exhaust. Plus, you have less carbon buildup and I used to have an Echo trimmer which oozed black crap out of the exhaust until I went to Amsoil.

One last thing on the Sabre oil, can it be used with the hybrid or 4 mix engines? The same 80 or 100 to 1?

There are a ton of us on here who do just that. Been using it in my BR600M and FS90 all season.
