At least some guys are doing PM. How many gearcases have you opened and found shiney dust. Echo makes the small tubes and a nozzle.

I have yet to toss one on the parts pile because of a gear problem. That should be the least of a guys worries.

FL is pretty hard on edgers. Constant use, stiff grasses and constanly rubbing the concrete heats them up quick. Sandy soils and a bad seal don't make for a long happy life. Two years with good PM is the norm.
