Homemade Stripe Kit Question

Ive been combing through threads about stripe kits but couldn't find my answer so here goes. Has anyone ever used 3 inch thick wall pvc, pack with cement or sand and used for striping? I figured it could be hung from my mower but removed easily if not needed. Any suggestions or confirmed uses with this method and how does it do?
