This is the answer. If you cut Bahia, I'd sharpen every 4 hours or so...

Sharpen blades every day?? I find that every 3 weeks or so still leaves the same cut whether its the day after sharpening or the 20th day after.

Scrape the decks and change blades every day and always carry a sharpened set in case we hit something while working.

Heh. No doubt. I whacked a protruding steel pipe along the street for a water shutoff - ripped the bolted-on cover right off of it.

I don't think the blade can even be re-sharpened at this point.

We change blades at the end of every day. We keep several sets for each ztr. We also blow out the air filter, lube the quickchutes and fill every thing with gas so we are ready for the next morning.

Usually I sharpen once a week but what ive noticed is the cut is better with sharp blades.

After mowing commercial propertys about 5 a day and running over rocks/sticks/and random trash, I see its worth re-sharpening for residentials.

twice to three times a week from now on. minus fall clean ups which will be daily.

I know this may come across as maybe being a smarta$$ answer, but I don't mean it that way.

"When does a blade need to be sharpened"? When it gets dull.

That may be a few hours, or a few weeks....it depends on several factors. One of the more obvious factors is "how much the blade is being used".
