problem w honda mower
my honda hrx w smartdrive has been turning oil black as soon as its changed and blowing white smoke 4 several minutes after its started. any thoughts? actually the oil looks more like a grayish color

Could be a blown head gasket.

The HRX uses a GCV190 engine, which is a diagonally-split block design (see image below) and it does not have a head gasket.
White smoke would indicate oil is getting into the combustion chamber, likely from worn-out cylinder wall and/or piston rings. Best to have a Honda shop check it out and give you the specifics. If the rest of the mower is in good shape, it may be worthwhile (cheaper/faster) to just replace the engine.
