Edger Blades
Just a quick question that's probably been gone over many times, but I did a few searches and didn't really find what I was looking for.
Edger Blades - All I've ever used are the hardened straight rectangular type. They work amazingly well for the first 10 minutes or so, but then the "sharp corner" on the leading edge rounds off and the performance goes downhill from there. I've taken the habit of "flipping" the blade around so the former trailing edge becomes the leading... then repeating back and forth until the blade becomes a little nub. My question is, do the "triangle" or "quad" shaped blades round off as quickly in your experience? Hell, I'd use Mr. Miagi brand Ninja Stars if it meant I saved a little time. Thanks for reading. |

I have had better luck with the quad blades. They last much longer for me than the standard blades but don't cut as deep as quickly as the standard which can be a pain on a new account but not a big deal on my regular customers.

The only thing is that as the blade gets shorter it's cutting edge is closer to the blade spindle. This shortening of blade length makes the blade cutting edge revolve slower.
In practical application I don't notice a difference new or old blade. |

At 2 a day per machine it doesn't make fiscal sense to go fancy. I have found slightly thicker blades last longer but I can't find them in volume discount.

The only straight edger blades I have are the ones that came with the edgers, I prefer the star or "quad" ones.
