Toro Super Recycler
I don't make very many threads but I thought I'd start one about the mower I tripped and fell on.
I happen to be driving by a place I pass by 6 of the 7 days in a week and saw a Toro mower and a few others so I stopped. I got to looking and found out that the Toro was a commercial model 20476. He said he got it from a homeowner cheap and was told it worked great. Well he bought it and went through it and it needed drive gears and a few other minor things. After hearing what he wanted, I had to jump on it. I only paid $100 for it and he said he had that in it with the parts! He's a real nice guy and because of that I told him that the mower was actually worth much more then that. He said as long as he got his money back out of it he was happy. I gave him a extra $20 just because. It has electric start which works! It has the blade disengagement so the mower can stay running while the bag is removed. I thought I got a pretty good deal. Next in line is 3 yes three Lawnboy 2 cycle push mowers. A 21 aluminum deck, a 21 steel deck and a 19in aluminum deck. All three run but two of the three need too much work to invest in. I mainly wanted a 2 cycle for extremely steep banks where football cleats are needed. It's steep enough that the first 4 cycle mower I started using blew up after a few weeks. I couldn't get 5 minutes in and it would start smoking really bad. Finally I just did the bank with a trimmer. Well this little 19in mower is going to put a end to that. The others I might try to make one good mower but the engine on one of them I think I'm going to use on a custom chopper bicycle I built from the ground up. I've been itching to fab a different engine then what I had on it before. It was a China made junk kit and the engine didn't last. I got pulled over 3 times by cops questioning the legality of the "motorized" bicycle. Well, I had read all the laws pertaining to moped laws and built it around them. One cop stopped me just to get a closer look at the bike. It's a real piece of work.

I'm curious why they sold for $900 back in 1996 if it's not a commercial mower? Did box store/homeowner mowers sell for that kind of money 16 years ago? What makes it NOT a commercial mower? It weights over 100lb, has ball bearing wheels, blade stop, large fuel tank and larger then normal bagger on it. It also has a 6hp ohv engine as well.

I'm just happy I found that mower and the Lawboy. I don't do a lot of small lawns that I even need a push mower but I wanted a solid unit and for the money, I had to get it. The Lawnboy is for a very steep bank/ditch line that I'm sick and tired of doing it by hand with a trimmer. I have to wear football cleats just to stay on the hill.

dosnt have ball bearing wheels-only the toro proline had them. there are many high end home owner model with that high a price tag. john deere ,honda ariens and snapper all had models in the 700+ $ range. while most mowers in this bracket can stand up to light comm use-they wert sold as comm models. yes you have a nice mower for shure. but the real toro proline is even better -and cost 1200$.
