What exactly does this noise sound like? Knock, rattle, scrape, whine? Constant? Idle? High speed?

A few questions..
Model and spec # ?
Do you have DSAM or DSAI coils ?
What is the part # of the replacement coils..?
How many parts did you have left over ?

It sounde like a mild scrape/whine. I ran this morning and it sounded like it was having a tough time turming over. Them ilthe starter just clicked an was barley turning over... Took alcase off at lunch and the one coil pack was rubbing. Adjusted and still barley turning over and not starting. Going to check it out again in a few.

Tim...Dont let that Kohler whip you....There's alot of pieces on that engine and they are all important...
Sounds like you have 2 problems now...rubbing coil and no charge.
Set the coil air gaps to .013... check them with an .011 feeler gauge...
Make sure the regulator is grounded by a short wire or strap to the case.
