I wondered the same thing myself, it was a great vac. The distributor doesn't know why, either.

Whenever I purchased a Hustler, it was very expensive for me to purchase the blower and container from 2 different companies but, it was worth it for the added capacity of that Protero container. Since Hustler changed the blower to a verticle blade, I wasn't sure what to do. When I called Protero on the container, Bob, the owner gave me a verbal guarantee that the new improved blower they had would not let me down. So far, he was right.

It is also less expensive, buying the whole system from one place.

Sounds good. The blower I had on a Dixie was super heavy and just left me with a bad impression of non OEM blowers. I figured the only reason they switched was to lose the width of the older blower. I am interested in how they will hold up in the future (protero that is).
