Kawasaki 34 hp fuel usage.

Trying out a Scag Cheetah with a 34 hp Kawasaki concerned about fuel usage, only owned DFI units in the recent past.

its gonna be worse on fuel but, still not bad....it cost me 60 dollars to fill up my mower with one tank bone dry, and the other at an 1/8th of a tank. and one 7.5 gallon tank last for 14-15 properties for me and i cut bigger lawns, but i also charge accordingly, my average lawn is 55 dollars so the "bad fuel economy" is not much of a concern to me, still seems pretty good in my opinion. a 55 dollar lawn will take me about 20-30 mins

GPH for 34HP Kawa

Based on comments on other threads, I would expect this motor will use around 2 gallons/hr (plus or minus some based on the load).

The people I have talked with running the FX1000V which is called a 37 hp engine by dealers, but in reality it is listed by Kawasaki as being 35 hp, and to get to the 37 you must go to their FX1000-DFI. The fuel injection is what adds the 2 extra hp. The block on the 34 is the same as the 35 & 37, and from what I've been told, the people running the new head design are burning in the 1.8 gph range, whereas the old 37 (as they labeled it at the time) would burn 2.3 gph and up. Kawasaki told me the difference people are seeing in better fuel economy is coming totally from a better head design, nothing has been done to their fuel delivery system.

I would say depending on deck size and load the 34 should also be in the 1.7 to 1.8 gph range. It's a whole lot easier for a big block to idle around with a 60" deck, that for it to strain somewhat with a 72.
