I was thinking more in line with wear or damage to the original crank and other components. Where buying new parts would exceed the cost of a short block. Unless it was a limited application. And you had no choice. But in your zeal to display your unparalleled skill and knowledge, you missed my point.

I don't mean to be right all the time....I just hate to be wrong...
A careful inspection of all the parts is imperative...or you can waste your time and your money...
When you're sitting on a hand full of aces...its hard to be patient..or humble...
