Mower questions

Can you zero turn belt drive walk behinds without tearing up the turf? If so how? Can you zero turn hydro walk behinds easier?

Belt drives not really because there is no reverse.Yes you can on the hydro,just takes a little practice.

So with the hydros do you have to stop and put them in reverse? Never used one.

I'm not sure about other hydro walk behinds but I have a Gravely Hydro 36inch walk behind with "pro steer" and absolutely love it. Its just like a ztr with the same control handles and all.

Only one wheel would go in reverse. The other would go forward. They are independently controlled. No gear levers to move. With hydros it's all on the fly, no need to stop.

I have Toro wb belt drives & I don't zero turn cuz of turf tear. I feather the break into turn & pull it back to line up for next pass. Hydros allow one wheel to reverse while other is going forward, instead of locking up break & twisting grass under tire. My next mower will be hydro.
