Why does my new 19hp bog more than my old 17hp?

I just replaced a 2007 17hp Kawasaki FH541V with a new 19hp Fh580V. The engine runs great until I'm in tall grass and/or climbing a hill. It seems like the new, bigger, engine bogs down slightly more than the old 17hp engine. Could it be because of the new stricter emissions? Are there any adjustments I might have overlooked?

Also I'm at a high altitude, and would benefit from a different jet. Where can i get one of these?

What altitude are you at? That might be the cause. The OEM may put high altitude jets in when they sell the machine to a certain location. However I doubt Kawasaki does that with replacement engines because they dont know where they are ending up.

Honestly the FH541 and 580 are basically the same engine. Probably just a different carb casting.

I'm hoping that the different carb is that extra 2 HP I'm looking for!

I'm high enough to need a different jet! I'm at 8,000 ft. Where can I get the correct one?

A Kawasaki dealer should be able to get you a high altitude jet for your engine.

In your area they may actually stock them just because they run into this more than any other part of the country.

They swap, but Kawasaki specs a different main jet for the 541V vs 580V per given altitude range.

From the service manual;
FH580V - ALTITUDE - FH541V
#98 - 6000ft+ - #96
#100 - 3000-6000ft - #98
#105 - 0-3000ft - #100

The main jet # is stamped on the end of the jet.

Replacement kit can be purchased from any Kawasaki dealer.

#105 part number; 92063-7037
#100 part number; 92063-7046
#98 part number; 92063-7047

*Note: Some part list breakdowns for various spec numbers list different jets than the service manual.
Get the spec number off your engine (FH580V-XXX) then just browse the parts catalog to confirm the jet size you need;
http://kmcb2c.econnect.partsandwarra...MBEROFITEMS=63
(Find spec number, then go to carb to see the jets. Smaller jet for higher altitude)

Thank you, that is great information!

I have been doing some research on this, and thought I found the correct jet for my FH580V-ES21-S. Here is what I found.

JET-MAIN,#108, PN 92063-7066
JET-MAIN,#106,3280FT, PN 92063-7090
JET-MAIN,#104,6560FT, PN 92063-7091

Does this sound right?
