Get a thicker wallet, you'll need to put more money in it everyday. LOL

That's the thing about the 54" VX4 deck. It just came out last year and there aren't a lot of blade options out there beyond what Hustler offers for it.
WILL work. Just grind a 1/16th off each end. The G6 blades are thicker and wider then most all stock blades. I put my OEM Scag high lifts on since I had a few sets already sharp. I need to sharpen the G6's and get them back on. They simply just cut better for some reason.

Good point.

I never thought to look at that today while I was in there looking up some other stuff. I do know though, that their website is at least somewhat out of date at this time. I don't see any G5's listed anywhere on there, yet I know they make them for several machines already, and more are to come in the next month or two according to the rep.

Like orangemower said, just grind the ends down enough to work if the extra length poses any problems.

The one thing I will say negative is the vx4 deck seems to get the clippings out to fast, thus the clippings don't get chewed up enough. What is my easiest fix to this? I've read all the negative post so that is where my nervousness comes in. I don't want to make a 10,000 dollar mistake. I am actually buying a 54" deck which I won't have an opportunity to demo.
What engine are you going with and what price did they quote you. I'm looking at a 54 too.

I've got the 31hp 60" x-1 and put about 75 hrs on it so far. I'm impressed. The last mower was a super z. I bought the x-1 because of price and the fact that I do mainly residential.

It isn't as fast as the super z but I can deal with it. I notice speed more backing up that going forward. When changing the blades on the x-1 I noticed that under the deck is more open than the old super z. More than likely this is the deck design.

I too see the clippings thrown out the side and grass isn't chopped up very good, but on regular mowing accounts you can't tell. I did intall a quickchute blocker to help with that.

Maybe i'll give the gator g6 blades a try. Anyone know what size/part number for a 60" x-1? I need to find the current blade number when I sharpen them.

A quick chute blocker? I didn't see it on the website. How much did it help?
