At least the man on the mower is out trying to make a buck. He could be sitting on the couch at home waiting for the next handout (maybe he is already getting that anyway ...?). Cutting grass is a task that nearly everybody can do, and his costs are minimal. That is why this business is flooded with low-end providers.
The tree service companies often will work a property, but send out a person with fliers, knocking on doors near the location of their present work. I've seen them hire a young person, on commission, to go door to door, somebody familiar with the neighborhood. And, it works! The same is true of painters, window installers, and other residential services. |
