Far to many new Kohlers smoke like a chimney right from the get go, and never seem to get any better. I'll pass.

i would think maintenance issues after warranty would favor the kawasaki....or any non efi engine

I definetly prefer kawasakis. I do know a lot of people who love their kolhers though and efi does save a ton on gas too

All good info folks. 2 extra hours of run time per tank is pretty enticing. I also worry about fixing the efi after warranty, but I am pretty old school. We do have a very good dealer close by, so I would hope they could repair in a timely manner. The muffler shield issue is also a concern. After reading the posts I seem to be leaning towards Kohler.
