I have been running a new 226V this week and love it. Fast, clean cuts and disperses the clippings very well. Even did good in the wet grass.

I have a 2001 721D diesel with 52" deck, 2700 hrs. Also have a 2005 722D Diesel with 52" and 2100 hrs. 2002 725 with 25HP Kubota gas and 72" deck. 820 hrs. All are used every day.
I bought a John Deere 60" Quik Trak. and a Kubota ZD18 with 54". They ride rough and my crews don't want to use them as much as the hoppers.
Parts are easy to get to, spindles last forever, and my local dealer is great. I have quit shopping diferent brands for ZTR's

I have a 725 built in 1993. I bought it used at 3000 hours 5 years ago. Since then I've put another 1200 hours on it. Starting to get a bit weak on the right side, and the deck is starting to fall apart. It gets seriously abused, mowing 5 km of grass/woods trails, and 8 acres of pasture complete with pocket gopher hills and an annual crop of fresh rocks.

I love the front deck for not having to crane my neck when I'm mowing close to my trees. (thousands...)

My dealer gives awesome support, often repairing stuff while I watch, and saving me a second round trip. He will put parts on the bus for me. My only beef: My dealer is an hour and a half drive away.

I bought one of the very first 226Vs and mine was a piece o crap. Cut good but it chewed up belts, replaced 3 drive belts in 150 hours. I didn't use the bolts on the foot deck because it threw belts regularly. I did get good at putting them back on. Oil leaked at the base of the Briggs and the governor went south. rpms would cycle from 3800 down to 2200 when it got hot. The shroud fell off the muffler and sometimes the gas tank didn't vent. I traded mine in on a BobCat predator pro at 160 hours and my sympathies go to whoever bought the GH.
Big Wheels in the back
Little Wheels in front
It's downhill all the way
