Either one would probably ve fine for occasional use. Be sure to use stabil in the gas if it sits awhile. I personally wouldn't buy a saw that wasn't stihl. And I use all echo handhelds, just always used stihl saws.

I own the exact Echo that you're looking at...it's a champ! Pretty light, a lot quieter than Stihl...overall great saw.
