To put blades on ...any air impact will work...we tighten them with a board and a ratchet.
If you hit something hard..Sometimes...as previously stated...you got to cut the head off the bolt..Even my IngersolRand wont budge the bolts that are bad tight..

On those...I use a SnapOn breakerbar and 6 pt impact socket...An 8 ft piece of sch 40 galvanized 2 in pipe..and a block of wood...sometimes it takes 2 people...
Heating the head of the bolt quickly with a torch ...and immediately trying to remove it with an impact gun ...also works pretty good...

I agree, I do the same thing with the breaker bar when they get stuck, and most often it is a two person job. I have had luck with a snap-on 3/4 inch impact as well, but that's not a cheap tool

This is a nice starter impact. I do blades on many different machines and change tires on truck and trailer.

Keep the hose short the better. Long air hoses are like long drop cords they lose power the longer they get.

I use a IR Ti Max 3/8 similar to this one: http://www.ingersollrandproducts.com...15timax-series
A bit pricey, but bad a$$ and compact/ light enough to handle easily when yer stretched out trying to reach the center bolt, which is the main reason why I bought one.
In your case, you don't wanna exceed the compressor output by too much, a little is OK, but ya gotta wait for it to pump back up, which we all know is a pain.
Another thing, always lube the blade bolt with never seeze, or plain old grease in a pinch. I absolutely lube every blade bolt I install.

And lastly, a freakin' torque wrench???? Ya gotta be kiddin' right???

I happen to have an electric Hitachi 18v impact that is rated at 1300inlbs so I tried it out and it took the bolts right out. When I tightened the bolts with the 18v gun, I held it on for about a second then I used my blade grabber and torqued it with the torque wrench. I just welded up the blade grabber and it works awesome anyone else use these things?
