any tips on getting commercial work...?

this is my first year in business and i have dropped business cards at three places i frequent.

my plan is to order a nice company polo shirt and just start asking to see the manager at every establishment around me that has a lawn to mow. give them a business card or even better some kind of flyer with pics of my work, equipment, etc...

really hope to land some commercial accts for the very reasons mentioned above..

so any tips for landing the business?

Its the year round income that people like. If bid correctly you can make a handsome income from commercial work.

Snow snow snow!! Especially at major retail stores. They want black pavement 24/7 so they don't get sued. If you're set up correctly, commercial will make you tons more money. Just look at Brickman or Davey Grounds

Commercial work is great if you get the right ones. Speaking from experience. We have dealt with great commercial clients and with dead beat ones also. The pay can be great also.

The early bs never works for us but they are nice to finish the day off with. It could be 7:30-8:30 pm and its to late to really do any more houses now its time to go hit the machine shops or health centers we do.

It would appear that I have all the wrong commercial work. They only want mowing and for what they pay I can mow for a very decent profit.

Question is how do I get them to sold on the extras like mulching, edging, fert and weed control?

They all seem to have a budget and anything above just mowing appears to be too much for them.
