Hi I'm new to the sight but, I bought a Kubota Zd 221 with the 54" deck about 3 months ago and use it to maintain 7, one acre properties in south Florida as of now because I am only 17. I love this mower, it is quick and nimble and very responsive. I tested out the Zd 326 yes i liked it but it is big and a bit bulky and very heavy but the wide tires make up for the weight displacement and such. Anyways the Zd 221 has enough hp which concerned me at first but once i started to hit some thick grass the torque kicks right in and keeps those blades spinning at about the same rpm that its suppose to and the engine just hums a beautiful noise lol. It does great on slopes in my opinion I don't know exactly the degrees of it but it did a lot better then the 60" dixxie chopper I've used before. It is very comfortable with a good seat and good leg room being 5'10, it would be nice to have a suspension seat but it is still very comfy. The hydraulic deck lift is great! It will definitely spoil you if you decide to move to another more with a foot assisted deck lift haha. This is my first post ever, if you have any questions feel free to ask or any opinions ill be happy to hear them.

I believe the weight quoted for the ZD221 is correct. I have a ZD326 and it scales at around 1900. Nearly a full ton. Actually with both tanks full I beleive it is a ton. The probem with the weight on this ZD326 is the front is so heavy on the steeper slopes it slips because it is trying to keep all that weight up front from turning on the casters and going downhill. Gravity you know. This is typically on slopes > 3 to 1.

Regards, Kevin

Yeah I would believe that as well, actually they are quoted at 1700 pounds haha either full tank or not, but still very heavy but they are one heck of a machine.

I've had the zd18 since 04 and have 1600+ hrs. Its been a great mower but I feel I'm do for an upgrade in cut compared to my stamped Kubota deck. How do ya'll like the pro-commercial deck and does the fixed front axle take away from the mower as far as comfort.

Check out the Grasshopper 321 48". Same 21 diesel kubota in a more "refined" mower. I think the hoppers are much better cutters and performers, add the new 4 year warranty, no pay till april with 0% for 48 month financing, throw in the smooth G2, rubber iso mount suspension, she is worth the look. Still 1200lbs, but thats all diesel baby, similiar gas machine comes in around 800 to 900
I have alot of buddies running botas, and its not that they are dissappointed with their mowers, its just when they mow with a toro, exmark, gravely, bobcat, badboy, scag, grasshopper for the same price point they feel cheated. I can't believe what they pay when their shaft and gearbox go out, would rather have a belt anyday.... Our Kubota place tells people all the time the Gravely they sell is a much better unit, but the 60 month 0% sucks em into the bota....

I love my Zd 221 and couldn't be happier the cut is great, comfort wise, in my opinion it's comfortable, a suspension seat would be nice but they don't make it for the 200 series. I mow some rough terrain at times and the mower doesn't bounce so much because of the weight keeping on the ground so I can't complain. The only flaw i see is that when you scalp you really scalp but thats probably most mowers as well. The good thing is that Kubota makes Kubota every nut and bolt just everything. Im not telling you to not look at Grasshopper, but take in consideration the dealer how far it is and their customer service also pricing. Hope this helps! Any questions you can message me.
