My only gripe with the diesel mowers is that there seems to be less room from the seat to the pedal. (Probably to compensate for the larger diesel motor.) Even though I'm only 6 feet tall this often results in having to sit sideways to get my knees under the sticks and to the pedal while floating the deck over roots or other small obstacles. When you do this for six or seven hours a day you really start to feel it when you wake up the next morning. I am new to the forum and was hoping someone has had a similar experience with the turf tiger and has found an adjustment or some other type of solution. I am not sure if I explained it very well but thanks for any suggestions.
I'm a second generation Scag buyer but have since went to Kubota. The only Scag I would ever buy would be one with the Catapillar engine. You made an excellent choice. I'm in East Tennessee and have never ever seen a used one for sale or I would own it.

I tried making an adjustment to the cutting height but could only get about a quarter inch out of it. I think I am going to weld about an inch extension to the sticks to enable me to get my knees under them on yards that I cut short.

Something tells me it would help. You're a little late though. He already mentioned doing that. I had the same problem with my Cub. I talked the dealer into swapping the control sticks for the adjustable ones.

Sorry about that i miss read it i thought he was talking about welding to the foot pedal. Another option woukd be set it up like a deere or kubota with hydrolics.

I am looking at possibly getting a Turf Tiger with the 28hp Cat Diesel or the 35 big block Vanguard. Anyone use these mowers? Is one better than the other? Is the power the same? I was wondering what the fuel consumption is like on both these. Torque I think is the same or close 53 on Briggs and 54 Cat but I have hear conflicting reports on what the Torque is these motors. Any info can help.

The Briggs wins hands down. Faster more cutting power, lighter, and cheeper. The Cat does only burn a fraction of the fuel, probably 1/3. I don't plan on keeping a mower past 1000hrs so the Diesel would never pay for its self any way.
