Just checking to see how you guys lift your mowers so you can change your blade. Engine lift (cherry picker) or regular mower lift? Thanks

I've done that a couple of times, in the field, but it also comes with an inherent risk. There always exists the possibility of the mower rolling.
I use a Jungle Jack. Very stable, plus only has one point of contact, which makes it easier to work underneath. There are, however, some downsides to it. I have Gravely 260 Pro-Master's, and it is very difficult to lift using only the Jungle Jack, for me. That said, I'm not an extremely strong fellow, plus although mine has a foot assist, I believe the latest models feature an improved foot assist to gain more leverage. To avoid straining my back, I simply raise the mower with a $30 floor jack from Wally World, then slip the JJ under the opposite side of the deck and raise it on up. Only takes 30 seconds or so longer, and saves all the back strain.

I use my ramp (for the last 13 years) and all my mowers have quality brakes on them that hold them safely on the ramp. On my ZTRs the rear wheels are always on the ground when using the ramp. I have a cherry picker and never thought of using it. I have considered a chain hoist or small electric winch on a beam in my shop. You could go as high as you want and not fight anything in the way. |

I just use my trailer gate or lift the front by hand and slip an axle stand under.
