Redmax Weedeater Problem

Hi everyone
I've got a Red Max BCZ2401S weed eater that's started to run sluggish for the last month. It starts and runs but just doesn't have the power or RPMs it had.It has to warm up before it gets to running so you can use it and it also helps to choke it 2 or 3 times till it clears up. I replaced plug helped just a bit cleaned all filters didn't help. I've got another Red Max same model that runs like its on steroids quick response and high RPMs.I swapped carbs from one to the other but still the same sluggish running weed eater.I also read somewhere about carbon build up, so I sprayed and I'm running sea form just in that weed eater but that hasn't helped.Has anyone else had these problems.Something I didn't mention its 6 or 7 years old and never had any problems till now.

Thanks Sid

Have you cleaned the spark arrestor at the muffler outlet? I think it turns about a quarter turn and pulls off. Wire brush the screen off when you get it out.

I just worked on 4 of these (2401 & 2405) today for a guy--3 had carbon buildup in the exhaust port. One was so bad that it would start but not wind up at all--the other 2 were just sluggish. Easy fix--remove muffler and scrape the exhaust port--I use a popcicle stick. If you use a screwdriver, be very careful not to scratch piston or cylinder. After clearing carbon, blow out cylinder with air.

Try this, hopefully it will fix your problem.
