i have a bunton with a 25hp kohler engine on it.my battery is not charging.what test can i do to find out if the charging system is working?if i jump start it,it will run fine untill i turn it off.thanks!

If you have jump started the engine it probably won't charge.

Put a volt meter on the battery terminals with the unit running. This will give you the voltage output. The reading, on a 12 volt system, should be around 13.5 to 14.5 volts. If you are below this in your case, the battery is not getting a proper charge. If the reading is within normal range, have the battery load tested. Good luck.

it was some wires dirty.i cleaned them out and it seems to be working.i have a digital charger.i started the mower about 10 times then checked the battery and it was 100%.the wires were on the side of the engine.about two weeks ago i cleaned the wires because they were blocking power to my solenoid and causing my mower to start then die.i cutt the wires and replaced with pull out connecters.so far so good!
