Tip Of The Day - 8/31/05 - Poor Watering

Overwatering a turf area can be just as harmful as an area that has poor drainage. Watering too often can weaken the plants roots which opens the door to diseases. Even though not watering enough can put stress on the turf, most grasses will simply go dormant when water is scarce.

Over watering is very harmful to turfgrass!

Don't do daily light frequent watering, but wait until turf grass is dry, then water deeply, wait until turf dry again, then water deeply.
Deeply means to depth of roots, and remembber, on cool season turf, 80% of roots will be in the top 3" of root zone!
