If you do 4 houses an hour at 25 a house thats 100 an hour.Yes there are alot of illegal workers that keep the prices down but you can thank trugreen, brickman, valley crest, and the like for that. But 100 an hour per guy is not bad at all.I think its more a case of low production time on the part of those who think you cant make money at that rate.Plus we cut all year long if your smart

You got 1000 mexicans at 7 and 8 dollars an hour when any American would want at least 10 to wake up in the morning.10 would'nt keep them there very long either.I may be wrong but I really doubt their legal or well paid.

Are they now?If thats the case then thats great.I must say that you would be the only one running more then 5 trucks that I know of thats doing it.Well at least in Orlando.I'm sure there are alot that do it legal but I dont know them.I dont know any one that will admit to under pay or illigal workers.See the thing is whats said by the boss and whats said in the truck are almost always completely diffrent. But like I said thats great if are one of the good ones.Keep up the good work.

Dear Ck,
Although there are many companies out there who have underpaid and illegal mexicans, Valleycrest is not one of them. All there landscape laborers are legit and decently compensated. You are also basing your pay rate on what it costs to live in Orlando. Ten dollars over here in the Tampa area is pretty damn good to start out with, most companies herestart you out around the 7-8 dollar an hour range. As far as us with the residential houses, we only do the houses if we get the contract with the HOA, that is the reason we do them for a slight discount. Otherwise the smaller residential properties are left for the smaller lco due to the fact there not that profitable when you factor what else the crews could be doing in that timespan. I hope this clears up any confusion you have had about Valleycrest and all the legit companies out there. |

There was no confusion after the last post.As I said before,If you guys are doing it right then thats great and you should keep up the good work.I under stand how the bidding on the big jobs go I put one in for 350 houses out this way.But I do appreciate the info. One thing I can say for sure is that I've worked for some places that had what they would call legal but once we changed payroll we found out just how many really were.If I started a guy at 7 or 8 dollars an hour I would have to show him how to start an edger.Theres not a landscaper worth talking to that will stay with a company for less than 10 long term and you would be hard pressed to find one to stick around for that.
