Tree Balers

I am looking into opening a tree lot and would like any opinions on tree balers. Are they necessary? Is it possible to bail a tree manually?

Does anyone have a good source for balers? Do you have to get different sizes or will one size work on all trees?

Thanks

I do not run a tree lot but do have a wholesale tree farm. Yes you need a baler so the customer can get the tree home in the grocery hauler. It is next to impossible to bale one by hand. Do a google search for balers. There are some that use netting and are much cheaper than the ones we use on the farm. Most have different size inserts depending on the size tree you are running through it.

Balers?

Not sure about Ohio, but wait till it gets 10 below zero and pull a tree thru a baler.
if your just starting, don't think i would put a baler at the top of my list.

thats bout 2 cents worth.

I help out at a tree lot sponsered by the local YMCA. They have a baler and it makes it a lot easier to get the tree on top of or in the family cruiser. We carry out all the trees we sell.

The baler is just a plastic ring with netting on the outside. As you pull the tree through, by hand, the netting comes off and goes around the tree. Give the tree a twist as you pull it through and it really reduces the size. It's not like it was baled on a tree farm but a lot easier to carry.

Kirk Company in Washington has the baler and netting cartridges

Get the bigger one...easier to pull through.
