Hino Trucks

Was wondering about the new Hino conventional trucks. Has anybody had any experience with them??? In particular the 185.

A friend of mine has the 145 with a 16ft box and he likes it alot. I rode with him about 150 miles to get some plants and it did great. We are hopefully going to get a 06 145 with an 18ft Supreme Vanscaper body in the next few weeks if everything goes well. I have compared the Hino to the Isuzu and the Hino has alot more cab space (conventional cab), and is overall just heavier built than the Isuzu for just a little more money. What type of body are you want to put on the 185? If you are want to put a dump body I would look at the 235 because it has a higher GVW rating.

I want the 185 with a knap pack behind the cab and an 11' landscaper bed. Hino says the the gvwr is 18,000 and the gcwr is only 21,000. That is the class we are interested in. The Mitsubishi fe180 is 17,995 gvwr and a gcwr of 24,012. I need to be able to pull up to a 6 ton trailer with a load on the truck as well. I still have 93 Mitsubishi FEHD 14,500 gvwr and routinely am loaded to 22,000. The hino has a higher rear end ratio and only a 5 speed Same HP but less torque. I just don't think that the hino is set up to pull. I think it will haul but not pull. I love the hino cab inside and out though.

Since you are going to be hauling and towing a trailer you might want to look at International trucks. Maybe a 4300 or the new 4100 would tow a load better than the Hino's or Isuzu's. A friend of mine that is a landscaper had a 4300 that he use to tow a Bobcat T300 track loader and an S250 at the same time. He just traded it in and bought a International 7600 tandem axle dump.

Thanks for the info. I was just to International's web site today and will call the dealer tomorrow and the Freightliner dealer as well. All options are open .

I had a good look at the 185 Hino nice looking truck yes they are expensive I talked to the person that owns the 185 has a dumping flatdeck on it.

The only thing that looks kinda goofy is the huge windshield they use in those trucks its the one for their cab over trucks which it doesn't seem like they build anymore.

I also had a first look at a LCF Ford not a bad looking truck see how well that V-6 diesel holds up.

I think Freightliner has the market on the low pro trucks they just seem to work right and don't look like a medium duty someone slapped 19.5 whees onto.

International builds good trucks if you get one with 466 power but then your getting into a 3-5 ton class truck.

Does he pull a trailer with it?? Hino still makes the cabover but not in northamerica. The hino is still cheaper than a gmc 5500 with comparable equipment and gvwr. 3K cheaper

If you are asking me I don't know if the guy pulls a trailer I don't think he doesn't he is in the scrap metal recycling.
