New logo ???

I had a logo designed a couple months ago. I liked it at first, but I forgot to think about the price of printing for all the color that's in it. I have seen a few guys on here using cartoon characters(aligtor, monster) that looked great. My question is, would I be a copycat if I had a logo designed with a character? Of course I would not use the same as other guys. I think it is very catchy for people look at?

Thanks full throttle. I don't plan on exactly copying yours or anyone else. I have read the same about thinking outside the box. I work in management at a Japanese auto manufacturer and that is what seperates groups of people. Don't be afraid to step out and dare to be different. I just want to make sure I am not being a copy cat. I just want to use what works.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but how about this.
My last name is Batte, pronounced BAT. Ever since high school ive been
called batman. Well, for about 20 years now I have a personalized license plate BATTMAN. Now that I am starting my lawn care business, I am calling it "Batte Lawn Service". I was thinking of using the little Batman symbol, maybe slightly altered for my logo on my flyers and cards and any other advertisements. Do you think this would be GEEKY, or illegal, or just what.
A friend in the business suggested it, I honestly always thought I would just look like a geek, he said it would help with recognition/image, folks would remember it easier. Also, alot of folks have mispronounced my name Bates, many times over the years and this may help with that. It doesnt bother me, but now Im in business and want all the help I can get to have potential customers remember me.
Any thoughts?

I think that you are set, batman logo will be a great eye catcher. I don't think that it is geeky, its great advertizing.

In my area, there is a landscape company called Warner Brothers. They use an altered bugs bunny. This bugs looks just like the real one on the cartoon execpt he's wearing sunglasses.

Batman it is!

Thanks for the reply guys. I just went to the print shop, asked them if using the batman logo would be cheesy. They asked me if Ronald McDonald was cheesy.
They said CHEESY WORKS and works well.
So he is working up something for me right now for my business cards, door magnets, and door hangers. Also thinking about the future, when I go full time, or at least close, about lettering up my truck.
I am too excited!
