Info on installing irrigation system (homeowner)

I know this isn't the homeowner forum but I know you guys taht know about sprinklers probably don't visit that forum much so I am directing my question to the guys in the know.

My question relates to installing an in ground system but instead of using well water (I am in the county and no water service) I want to use a small pond to do my irragating from. The pond is probably 50 to 75 feet below my yard and probably 100 feet down in the woods. How can I figure out how big a pump or how much pressure I would need to operate a sprinkler system for my lawn? Can anyone give any suggestions of any technical websites or any other helpful information. I am thinking about using a gasoline powered pump but if there is an electric pump that can be programed to come on automatically and have enough pressure to do the job I may consider that instead of having to manually crank the pump every time I wanted to water. I definately have no clue about this and this is why I am posting this question here. Please don't tell me to contact a professional, I don't have the extra cash laying around to do so and I am very hands and can usually do most anything that I attempt, I just need some advice and knowhow to get me going in the right direction. Thanks for any helpful advice.

You need to provide more information--how big an area needs to be irrigated, etc. Both Rain Bird and Hunter have excellent homeowner sections on their websites and can help you calculate pump size, etc.
