1. I would have a few prototypes for testing. As I said, have them (design/development) work. That is not inside out, that is putting a product out for you to get feedback on for improvement. Outside in as you want.

2. For brand recognition, I meant maybe an anodized shaft, with matching engine cover. That way landscapers/homeowners would recognize your product instantly. Appearances do count. Some mowers Scag, John Deere, I never have to do a second take when spotting those products. It's all about selling the product.

As I have said, Tanaka makes good products, once tried I think customers will stay with you. I certainly have. In go cart/kart market, your 47 engine is everywhere.

3. I do think competition is great and I am impressed with your efforts.

Instead of going through each category I'll just mention a couple points which are important to me.

1) As mentioned, multiple position trigger lock. I usually run my trimmers at 1/3rd to 1/2 speed.

2) Large bump head to hold extra line with quick/easy load spools. For example, I like the spools RedMax uses.

3) Straight shaft with solid inner shaft drive (like Kawasaki).

4) Small trigger grip similar to Redmax. The larger/thicker grips are cumbersome and can cause hand cramps. The trigger needs to be flexable to avoid breaking.

5) Trimmer guard small and moved up a couple inches toward operator. The line cutters are worthless, but it's nice to have a little protection from rocks, pebbles and dirt being launched at one's face.

6) Shindaiwa style front handle.

7) Shaft-polished aluminum

8) Color-cameleon blue/green

Two things:

I would like to be able to add an Edgit attachment to it. Also, if the right retrofit part was made, I'd like to add it to my 230. The combo of an Edgit with the 230 would be AWESOME.

The trimmer should rotate CLOCKWISE, which it doesn't on most commercial trimmers. If it did, the operator could go left to right, more comfortable (and the only way I'll trim) and efficient if rotation was correct. COUNTER-CLOCKWISE is simply wrong and should be fixed.

You'd sell these trimmers left and right if you used a clockwise rotation and advertised it heavily.

Fix your gas tanks! Make then more translucent, even if you wish to keep the orange look. And make the filler neck wider so it is easier to gas up. Tanaka has the smallest filler necks I have ever seen.

I second the clockwise rotation.
