Check Valve on Fuel Pickup

A friend of mine that just bought a 28 efi 66" XR-7 with flex forks called me last night and said you are not going to believe this but my new mower will not crank. I asked him if he changed tanks and he said that was when the problem started. I said there is nothing wrong with the mower you are not getting fuel to the engine, then I told him to pull the fuel pickup line out of the tank and tell me what it looks like. He pull it out and said it is sucked almost flat, I told him to take the strainer off and blow through it, I said you will only be able to blow through it in one direction because of the check valve. He told me air would not go through it and I said that is your problem take something and free the check valve, once he did he could then blow air through in the direction the fuel would travel. He then put the pickup line back inside the tank and the engine started right up and ran perfectly. I just thought this may help someone if they happen to run into this same problem.
