Which brand engine??

Kawasaki, Honda or Kohler?
Seems the opinions vary Kawasaki good but fuel hogs, Honda some say stay away and the motors bog a bit, Kohler all I have heard is go with a command not the courage.
I'm looking for a ZTR, mowing about 1.3ac. Have Hustler fastrak 20/52 in mind but have thought about going with a mini fastrak 42". Looking for a residential/commercial. Also had looked Husqvarna but not much being said about them here. Grass is getting taller got to make a decision pretty fast.

For what it's worth, I've had B&S, Kohler, Honda, and Kawasaki. I prefer and have had the most reliability from Kawasaki. If it's available in a particular model, I'll pay the extra to get it.

I just brought home a Hustler Mini Z with the 19HP Kaw, 42" deck. There were just too many extra on the Mini Z that made the decision for me. I would like to have a larger deck for the open areas in my yard but the 42 will be a little more manuverable in tight spots, same as you, about 1.25 acres. I walked back and forth between the two (FT 20/52) for an hour looking and comparing not to mention hours of reading right here. The FT 20/52 would have taken up more garage space also. The frame on the Mini Z is longer and narrower so you can strecth out a bit more and you still have ample deck hangover for close trimming, better hydros, larger tires, springs under seat, super heavy deck, frame and fork construction, hour meter, HD air cleaner, 6 gal fuel tanks on the Z, 12 on the FT( I liked the smaller tanks)etc. I think I'm going to like this mower a lot. The only draw back, only ONE cup holder on the Mini Z, TWO on the FT, imagine that. Oh, and $300 less for the Z, a full comercial mower! $4,800 out the door. I actually went to the dealer to buy the FT 20/52 which would definitly be a nice machine. I don't think you would go wrong with either.

Got a stander w/ 23 kawi. Oil change/service every 20 hours. 400 hours so far - no problems. Kawi's got my vote.

Love my 17hp kawisaki. Minor issue with it acting up at times but until the coil is cooked, my dealer cant diagnose.

As for it being a gas hog mine is a fuel meiser if anything. I can cut for 3 hours straight on 3 gallons or less.

I don't think you can really go wrong with either Kohler or Kawasaki. It's more personal preference and what you've used in the past and your experience with them.

I've had Kawasaki on all my stuff and haven't had any problems.
