Lawn sweeper and mulching blades
I have two questions I wish answered;
First is I am looking at buying a Lawn sweeper and I need to know which one is best and what are the critical points I look for when purchasing one. I own a 42" craftsman 16 hp mulching mower. Second, my mower leaves a ton of grass and I don't think it is cutting as well as it should. Is there better blades out on the market or a better mulching system I could use for mowing? I heard a maintenance man talk about "Gator" blades and that they worked well. Any advice you can share is appreciated. thank you |

ok, a lawn sweeper may not be neccisary, chck the blades as to how sharp they are, 2nd check how much grass is stuck to the bottom of the deck it may need cleaned, 3rd your mower may need a general maintenance on it to get it back up to par.

Yes there are such blades as gators. They have a unique design which further enhances the mulching and reclipping of the grass blades. They work quite well for homeowner use and on residential equipment they can work wonders with the lower blade tip speed.:blob3:

I have a 42" Agrifab sweeper. It used to be towed behind a garden tractor, but I know use an older walk-behind. The sweeper has been used for picking up grass if there was too much left on the lawn, acorns, and fall leaves. It works quite well. In the fall I ran double blades on my deck spindles to help mulch the leaves, and then used the sweeper for the heavy residue that was left. Messy, but it worked.
