52" scag walkbehind reverse problem

I am just starting out on i just picked up my first mower. Its a 2004 52" scag belt drive walk behind. It goes forward, turns and stops great. But it does nothing in reverse. Its not the trany i can see it turns in reverse, its just not grabbing. Newbelts?, tighten somthing?. help me out guys.

Thats normal... Most belt drives are 'assisted reverse', this means that they don't have enough power to back up without you helping them.

Thats why everybody that makes money doing this says buy HYDRO!
A belt drive does not go backward very well. It is called an assist in reverse.
A hydro is so much easier and quicker to use. that is why they are so much CHEAPER to own. Not cheaper to buy but are much more productive to use in business. Therefore cheaper to own.
Trade it in now- or you will wish you had everyday you use it.
