leaves browning on maple tree

hey guys just have a question about a couple of trees that have leaves browning on them. I usually don't deal much with them so I don't know as much about them. Both trees are about 7 feet tall. They were planted last fall and are in sandy soils. They are well watered. They just started browning within the last 2-3 weeks. Any help would be helpful Thanks!

Are they near a road or sidewalks?
How hot?

It could be anthracnose blight its the right time of year and is common in maples, ash, oak and sycamore. If it is get rid of all the dropped leaves and keep them away from the plant and other plants too. Go ahead and fertilize the trees right away if you already have not, and when watering don't get water on the leaves and even more so at night. Are they around any other plants that is hindering air movement if so prune them to get better air flow. Go ahead and spray a fungicide if you have a lic to do so.

Great points by Gateway! If it is near a road or sidewalk it could be leaf scorch, I have been seeing it alot in the past few weeks because of the heat and humidity.
Isthe whole leaf turning brown or just the tips or by the veins?

Our trees have been hit with Anthracnose in the last week.

at 7 foot, canopy air flow is likely not an issue. Being planted last fall in admitted sandy soil, I lean toward leaf scorch(sunscald) more than anything else. dmoney, are you at elevation? were these trees grown at a lower elevation? Is most of the browning occurring on the southern and western parts of the tree? post a pic, that will be helpful.

Air flow could be a problem if it is surrounded by other plants at the same height.
I still bet its anthracnose I have seen a lot of it around here this year, more then normal.

I have noticed scorch on many maples, are they planted in full sun? Many maples do poorly in full sun.. If the edges are browning at the tips, it is scorch, many maples can't move water as quickly as it evaporates out of the leaves in hot, sunny conditions. I have notices Japanese maples are particularly bad for full sun.

thanks for the tips guys...they about 7-8 feet from the sidewalk and from the cement for the cars to drive on for the garage. They are in the open. the tips are just starting to brown. and I am not at elevation really

Brown leaf spot? We get that here when there is prolonged damp/wet periods
