How many mowings for 1 guy

I'm just starting off on my own and feel very luck to have 31 full time mowing accounts and 6 every other week accounts. I'm finaly able to mow them all in three days now that its not raining every other day up here in the northeast. Now that my side job list is getting smaller I wonder how many more accounts I can take on with out getting to big for fall cleanups and not be able to service them without the calls "where are you". I ask this cuz a buddy of mine is getting out of the business and is willing to "give" me 10 accounts at the end of July, and potentialy 35 by the end of the year. I'm thinking I need to hire someone if I get 10 more. An average of 44 mowing will kill me if i'm alone. prices range from $50 to $125 a week for the new 10. I'm making good money now and own my mowers (exmark 60' lazer and 36" walkbehind. My only debt is insurace, taxes, fuel ($800 last month), and small payments on my F250. So my question is how many lawns per man is a good ratio.

10 more would push you into another full day by my estimate (based on the $$ pricing if its close/above industry average). That would put you @ 4 days, not much room for rain-outs, holidays, sick days, vacation. also, don't forget you can mow a few more lawns a day in the middle of the summer when the growth is slow than you can in the spring or fall fast growth.

Thats what I was thinking I need a part timer for atleast 2 days a week and put him on full time for leaf season. I dont drop my gates for less than $35 and right now my high is $65. Been doing this for 7 years for other people and now its time for me to make some profit

LOL I have 2 that come out every week and B**** about something. One is blaming me for killing the grass around her light post. The grass that is alive around the post is 4 inches tall and then some is brown. I know it a dog cuz i've seen the thing pee on it.

Another option for those to PITA's you have is raise their rate 20% and let them leave on their own...or if they agree, the extra loot makes it worth dealing with them.

That light post lady is all 36" work in the back yard. I thought about trimming her bushes on friday and then call her on monday moring and tell her i blew a hole in my motor and it over $1000 to fix it and i dont have the money for it so i cant cut her grass. That way I can stay on the 60" rider and make some real money. Plus shes 15 minute drive out of the way. Nothing close to her. Like you said, I'll end up raising her price next year and hopefully she gone.
