Estimate Follow up Letter

Does anyone have a letter they had used for a follow up on an estimate that they wrote in a letter. I'm having a hard time putting the words together and was looking for a little help thanks!!

I think I misread your 1st post- you just went out to measure and did not give the estimate--Right.
This letter is to actually give the est.--
So with that, I never gave a break down like that. You are letting them know everything about your price when all they really need is the total price. I would not list time. (unless it is a time and material thing)
You should list everything that you will do for that price including any dump fees. Build the value as much as possible

you think you can kinda reiterate that in my letter and send it back. FYI I dont own my own business yet, its something ive always been ify about (estimates and all and making the client swallow it)

Basically this letter is a follow up to an overview of the site/property, the reason im doing it in a letter form because i feel more comfortable having things in writing.

I agree with the letter now At first I thought you had already sent a price or gave a price at the time of measure. This is right and THAN follow this up with a call if needed.

great i really appreciate it,

ques: should i just list whats include in the price with no actual break down of the price?

Is it better to mail it or deliver it?

and say you do recieve the job but you under estimated whats my next step?

Dear Mr. Smith,

This letter is in regard to the estimate you had requested. After an thorough overview of the entire property and an assessment of work needed to produce the result you desire, the estimated cost of this projected will be $ _________. Below is an outline of the work we intend to perform:

Dig up old plants
Dig a lot of holes to match drawn layout.
Drop plants in the holes.
Put a little good soil in the hole so the plant is happy
Fill holes up and level dirt
Install irrigation system back
Install mulch to a depth of 4 inches
Transport and dispose of old plants at dump
Plants are warranted for 1 year
Site to be broom clean and all debris removed


Payment to be as follows—50% at time of acceptance—50% at time of completion




This is an estimate and only an estimate, actual final cost may subject to change within 35% of the estimated price given above. ( I do not like this)

I would alway try to hand deliver.

First Do not under est. But I would play each job as it comes- If it is an easy job you really should be close. but if it is a lot of digging, Add that ground conditions could affect the final price -- or If you are not sure of dump fees because of weight-- Final dump fee will be calculated at time of dump by tonnage.
Just something to cover if you really do not know something. But get as close as you can fast. You want to put as little doubt in the customers mind as possible that you are the expert.
