SAE 10w-30 Vs SAE 30

Hey,

I use both kawi v-twins on my wb and rider and i'm wondering whats the difference between a 10w-30 and a 30 wt oil? The manual says either is fine but Ive never seen a straight SAE 30 oil at Canadian tire or where I buy my oil in bulk (costco). Can some one tell me what the difference is and if it will affect engine longevity/performance?

Cheers
Jeff

This will give you a idea how oil is rated; http://www.autoeducation.com/autoshop101/oil-change.htm If you can't get 30w then 10w30 will work just fine.

Did all you guys follow the link, goto the bottom of the page, click on the prompt to take you to page1 of the free preview and ingest all it and the other 8 pages has to say?
It's good stuff.
The "oil rating" is not the real news on this page.
